Gulf Group have been operating as an integral business partner with our client Gold Fields Australia at the St Ives operation for 6 years and have just extended that relationship for another 3 years.

St Ives Gold Mine is located 80km south of Kalgoorlie near the township of Kambalda.

Gulf provide the haulage systems at St Ives with

• 10 surface Road Trains (8 operating onsite and 2 operating offsite),
• 13 Loaders,
• 1 Grader,
• 3 Excavators,
• water carts and a dedicated on site 100 ton float.

7 million tonnes are hauled for crushing each year to 3 separate processing location where at 1 of these road trains to tip directly into the crushers.

The Gulf Group St Ives team has approximately 84 people working on site made up of both local and fly in & fly out personal. 3 basic groups are a workshop team of 22, operations team of 57 and a management team of 5.

As well as haulage Gulf provide crusher feed services to 2 crushers, road maintenance, rock breaking, and many other miscellaneous earth works.

Currently (2009) the mine consists of 3 underground mines and 3 open pit mines which forecasts a life of the mine of 9 years. Looking forward at St Ives shows a shift in the structure of the mining with St Ives progressing to 6 underground mines and 2 open pit mines. Definitely busy times ahead for all of Gulf Group at St Ives.
