The Gulf Group is a wholly owned family operated business dedicated to providing complete material handling solutions and logistics to the transport and the mining and haulage industries.

Gulf Transport Co Pty Ltd commenced in business in 1939 in Darwin and has operated continuously since that date (including WW2 where most of its equipment was taken over by the military).  It is currently the oldest trucking identity operating in the Northern Australia.

Purchased in 1971 by the present owners, it operates from Darwin with a flat management structure and is considered to be one, if not the largest, road train operators in Australia.

Innovation has been the driving force behind the groups move into the equipment manufacturing business along with operating this equipment within Australia and overseas.

Overseas experience has been in manufacturing Flex-Tip side tipping trailers in Edmonton - Alberta and Portland - Oregan in the early 1990s providing an underground road train haulage system at Gordonsville - Tennessee 1996 thru till mine closure in 2003 and providing aboveground ore haulage at Elko - Nevada for Newmont from 2003 until late 2004..

The Gulf Group is both an Operator of Equipment and manufacturer of mining equipment through Powertrans in Brisbane www.ptrans.com.au

The Gulf Group has 50 Above Ground Primemovers, 16 T1250 "Big Foot" Primemovers, 206 Trailers, 138 Dollies, 33 Underground Roadtrains, 35 Front End Loaders, 7 Graders, 7 Excavator with Rammer Hammers.

The Group currently employs approximately 437 staff of which 50 are Diesel fitters, 12 Diesel mechanics and 11 apprentices.
